Chinese Beef Broccoli

I have saved some ribeye steak from when my husband made a Korean dish, Bulgogi so instead of using Frank or Beef sirloin I used it as a substitute. Here's what we've got!

Recipe Yield: Servings for Two

Ingredients:
1/2 lb. Frank or Beef sirloin, sliced thinly (or some other beef cut available)
4 to 6 pieces of shrimps, peeled and deveined
2 cups or more broccoli florets
1 cup broccoli stem, sliced like match sticks
1 tsp. olive oil
1 tsp. sesame oil
1 tsp. oyster sauce
1 tsp. soy sauce
1/2 cup shrimp broth, boiled water in shrimp shells, shells discarded and cooled
1/2 tsp. corn starch, dissolved in shrimp broth
1 clove garlic, finely minced
1/4 med sized onion, thinly sliced and divided
Freshly ground black pepper to taste

Procedure:
1. In a bowl, put in the beef steak/frank/sirloin season with sesame oil, oyster sauce, soy sauce and ground black pepper. Marinade for for 30 mins. to 1 hour.
2. Heat a pan and pour olive oil. Pan-fry beef until it's dark brown and set aside. Use the same oil, pan-fry shrimp until it's pink and set aside. Be careful not to over cook the shrimps.
3. Using the same pan, sauté garlic and half the cut onions then add the broccoli stem match sticks. Stir and add the corn starch dissolved in shrimp broth. Continue stirring until the sauce thickens. You may add more ground black pepper if you like. Add the broccoli florets, stir, then turn off the heat. Continue stirring until all the florets have absorbed the sauce.
4. Place the cooked vegetable in a serving platter then top it with the cooked beef and shrimp and the remaining onions. Serve and enjoy!
